The Morgan Plus 8

The Morgan Motor Company is a British sports car manufacturer. Its vehicles are known for their traditional craftsmanship. The classic models are still produced today with wooden bodies made of ash. The very light and sometimes very powerful vehicles have a large fan base worldwide. The company was founded in 1909 by Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan in Malvern Link in Worcestershire, West Midlands. After the death of H.F.S. Morgan, his son Peter Morgan took over the management of the company. His son Charles Morgan managed the company until 2013. Since April 2019, the investment company Investindustrial V L.P. (which is also involved in Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings PLC) has held a majority stake in Morgan Motor Company Ltd. Today, 200 employees produce around 700 vehicles per year with a turnover of £35 million. More than 30,000 enthusiasts visit the visitor centre and take a guided tour of the production facility every year. Between 24 July and 2 August 2009, the Morgan Motor Company celebrated its centenary with numerous events in Malvern Link and Cheltenham. With the Plus 8 model, the vehicle appeared in 1968 that still has the status of an icon today. Powered by an eight-cylinder V-engine from Rover, with a displacement of 3.5 litres and 110 kW (150 hp) of power, with a vehicle weight of just 935 kg (kerb weight), it delivered excellent driving performance for the time and still does today. It is thanks to the popularity and enduring appeal of the Plus 8 that the Morgan Motor Company was able to survive as an independent small series manufacturer. Around 6000 of these vehicles were produced. During its 36 years of production until 2004, the Plus 8 was offered with various engine variants. The discontinuation of the engine by Rover signalled the end of the Plus 8, as stricter emissions and safety regulations in the important American market had already caused sales figures to plummet.

The Morgan Plus 8 offered here was delivered to Germany in August 1975 and registered for the first time on the 18th of that month. A copy of the first vehicle registration document is available and provides information about the car's ownership history.  The current owner acquired the vehicle on 24 October 1993, with a mileage of 80,306 km at the time. The original purchase contract from 1993 is available. Over the next 30 years, the Morgan remained with its owner, who attached great importance to its visual and technical condition. From February 1994, he decided to commission extensive work on the bodywork, paintwork, interior and engine to ensure that the car met his requirements. Detailed invoices for this work are available. In the following 30 years, the car was only used to a very limited extent and the mileage today is only 89,125 kilometres. During this time, meticulous care was always taken to keep the Morgan in perfect condition and service work was carried out on a regular basis. The last major service, including MOT, was carried out on 2 August 2023. We are delighted to be able to offer this Morgan Plus 8 as one of the best-maintained cars on the market. Supplemented by the complete history, it is an enrichment for every collector of classic sports cars. Our sales staff will be happy to answer any detailed questions you may have. Please note that vehicle viewings are only possible by prior appointment.
